Too Big For This

Too Big For This

A Poem by Kirsty Woodward

people are so afraid to show themselves
they'd rather hide behind a curtain of immortality.
who taught you to live this way?
it's no big secret
we are human
your existence is a messy pile of
emotions
on your bedroom floor.

have my heart
take my mind along with it
just don't look at me like I'm the only damaged one
we are all damaged
and it's in these bottles,
the night sky
the palm of your hand
and 4am conversations where we try to make sense of it all.

yes, people try to pretend they are so without sin, try to take the moral high ground...but life is full of spoils, full of reality...and it is in all of what you have said here.

we will all do our penance on earth for the liberties we take, for our transgressions...but if we don't feel life, we haven't lived it.
