Lake Thoughts

Lake Thoughts

A Poem by Klyn

Leaning over me and pulling my chin up with his big, stubby fingers he asks, "Where is that thunder, that drive that I once knew?" Turning away, I toed the pebble-rocks at the lakes edge forcefully and then looked at the bottom of my foot to see how many were stuck in the rubber grooves of the sole of my shoe. Five. Five pebbles were stuck and wedged tightly in my sneaker. "I dunno" I finally answered, shaking my head knowing it wasn't the truth. But I really wasn't sure what the truth was anymore. We both looked out at the water. It is choppy today. The ducks look like they will tip over any minute but they never do. I feel like I just want to run...because I know when I do, the pebbles will become unwwedged and they will break free. They will be free.
