Inutterable

Inutterable

A Poem by Jack Romero
"

More old poetry. 11 years ago.

"
cherry-red sunburst dismemberment
urgent demolition of the lifeless antagonist
arrayed against psychic torment futile and proud
yellowing blown away
devoured by a merciless wind
hot breath of the sky panting against their faces
turned down and crazy with that kind of sick hopeless hunger
that makes cannibals of mother's sons
turning loose the skeletal hounds of desperation in your gut
gnawing and snarling
tugging at the entrails
syringe-fangs piercing skin and muscle
intramuscular assault
feel the pins and shining steel needles
pharmaceutical rape of blood and brain
reshaping teeth into rotten tearing instruments
break through to the blue light
so as to hold the black diadem
rainfall along the eastern front
why can't I find you anymore?

I'm not holding out on you
I just can't seem to make the words line up
in the right order.

might as well dip an army of live ants
each insect in its own precise shade
to attempt to direct them
in their future furtive crawlings
to paint a mural
on my bedroom wall.
