BrokeA Poem by KoiDropSomething wakes me from sleep, Prying my eyes from their lids I hold myself up and peer around I cannot see The room is a shady grey and winding But I can hear The birds outside my window The earth is still dark Still bleak But they are singing a cacophony For what, I couldn’t know The sun hasn’t even begun to peek Are they aware it will rise? Do they know it will fall? Do they praise it? Worship it? They sing And I do not I slink into my sheets and wrap myself in filth My glass skin shatters with strain I sleep © 2024 KoiDropAuthor's Note
