Freshly Collected Stars

Freshly Collected Stars

A Poem by Katarzyna Anna Koziorowska

Solemn pain
is what happiness needs most.
Almighty fear is a mistake
that cannot be resurrected.

The thoughts
that I have imprisoned in a gilded cage
of confusion
hurt me.

Don't lie, although God tells you
to start over.
Don't test my patience.

Life is a road
that has been hastily built.
I am not afraid of calendars
since the night became
a mistake of lovers.

Don't make me breathe
against the current
of this black river.
Time creeps under your heart.
The season of hatred
is approaching.

Let's build an eternity
that cannot be saturated with
freshly collected stars.
