I Found a Broken Tear

I Found a Broken Tear

A Poem by Katarzyna Anna Koziorowska

I got my way to hell wrong.
I found a broken tear in your heart.
The almighty night has made itself
at home in me, ready to bring
darkness instead of the simple spurts of dawn.

I promise that I will remember
every inch of your body,
that I will feel the weight of your touch
on my skin.

Don't open a window in me,
don't close the door to my thoughts.
You'd better replace fear
with an insatiable return to the present.
The crystal sky reigns on the wall
of your heart today.

Intact, virgin madness reigns
in the embrace of popular myth.
Dark Messiah, come back before
the world breaks in half like my heart.
Come back and feel
with all your ashen conscience
how indifference blooms in me,
how a star gives way to a tear.

I don't want the weekday
to take away the last bit of indecency
from me.

The extraordinary phrasing in that stanza seems to be the core of your emotions, part wild, part pleading.

Is that your translation from Polish? You write in very fine English
