A Welcome Kiss

A Welcome Kiss

A Poem by Katarzyna Anna Koziorowska

Don't interrupt my lost words.
Do not oppose the silence
that has settled in my lungs.

Your thoughts are warm, even warmer
than the desires you want
to give me.

No, nothing else matters
when another sleepless day passes
in us, when we miss unnatural breath.
My skin is unaccustomed to touch.
My senses crave
a little empty passion.

There will come an evening
when I touch your delicate wrists,
when you help me carry
this thorny dream to the top.

Do not deny loneliness, do not make
a promise to words.
I'm afraid, I'm so afraid
of tomorrow's sadness that I will inherit
from too hasty thoughts.

Take refuge among the constellations,
recognize the emptiness in me
for which I can humbly wake up.

Leave me a welcome kiss
as a souvenir.
