The Nights Will Return

The Nights Will Return

A Poem by Katarzyna Anna Koziorowska

Perhaps the nights will return
when our souls will not refuse
to obey loneliness.
Perhaps I have regained lost years
when love curled up
on your lap.

Fear hurts me, the other half
of my heart makes itself felt.
I disappear,
I lose with your future
that is too insistent.

I hear your fingers running over
my skin.
Dying tears try to find a way
to purgatory.
I am trying to get the last piece
of this puzzle, but God took
my last photo from me.

Before the wind finds shelter
in my hands, take my time,
take care of my death.

A lot of emotion here within these lines, it’s easy to tell each word is heartfelt, your opening lines felt at first like a summary of these times:

‘ Perhaps the nights will return
when our souls will not refuse
to obey loneliness’

but from there on it in it took on other different dimensions also.

Lovely.

Best wishes

There is such palpable sadness and regret within these lines it stirs the reader to reflect on their own mortality and the puzzle of their existence. I enjoyed reading. F.

The melancholy mood of this is quite relatable. I love the emotions the contradictory words evoke. Well penned.
