A Green Flower of Hope

A Green Flower of Hope

A Poem by Katarzyna Anna Koziorowska

Leave no traces on my eyelids
until the last voice of this decade
has passed.
Your mask has become too tight lately,
isn't it worth buying a new one?

A green flower of hope
blooms in my chest,
someday our breaths will intertwine,
our timid tears will collide.

I would like to fall asleep in the silence
that has left me with a betrayed fear.
The path at my feet is bright blue,
I spread my wings to fly
above our mutual sleep,
above the pain that gives fulfillment
instead of emptiness.

Cold, cold is my mind without you.
I wish I could get so close to my dreams
that I could taste your groan.

It's time to get up, it's time to throw off
the body and fly away
to where our mutual mornings
have settled.

Tired of eternity, I hug my tears
to the rock that is your breast.
In this chest there is a heart
that could love,
but does not understand that the world
spins on its axis.

I like the double meaning....Covid keeps us from breathing each other in...the masks are preventative.

and Sometimes distance is like a mask, one we can not so easily take off....

when we shove off these mortal coils, perhaps our souls can link up...and love for eternity...

You do a nice job of showing someone who is aching for their lover through the use of vivid imagery.
