Between Mad Stars

Between Mad Stars

A Poem by Katarzyna Anna Koziorowska

I found you
among the splinters of light.
I sniffed your emerald heart
between mad stars.

I lent you my newest dream.
I dedicate to you words
that try to break into
a hollow heart.

Since pain has become
my only consolation,
my body has been wandering
reluctantly on the sidewalk
of dead remorse.

The soul, stripped of the remnants
of tears, expects to believe
in emptiness.
I will never trust the fear
that brought me here
without permission.

Before you teach me
how to cry properly,
I don't want to live in this
empty world.

A poet lost in the night... Another heart, possibly as lonely as his... And yet, a darkness waits to devour both. Almost makes me think if a vampire romance. Moody, evocative. Nicely done.
