My Mad Melancholy

My Mad Melancholy

A Poem by Katarzyna Anna Koziorowska

Since pain has become
a blank page
and life can be bought in
a random second hand shop,
get up and teach me
how to be silent without a punch line.

My mad melancholy
will be an excuse
to regain loneliness.
Your love fades away like a scream
that everyone is afraid of.

My yesterday's dream
turned into a whisper
that is not worth waiting for.

Our last unborn night is dying in me.
Prayer ends in us.
The thirst spoken by strange lips
is fading in us.

A very melancholy poem of self worth, loneliness and perhaps memories of past relationship…..I like your metaphors, especially “ life can be bought in a random second hand shop”…….a very potent phrase.
Nice work.

Some hearts are simply not meant to join. And yet, all those long nights that haunt us like wandering demons... Grief, loss, feels like a compass spinning out of control. Thought provoking words.

A very powerful statement about loss and grief. The speaker at this point sees no alternative to lonely despair. The passage of time is his only hope now. By the way, I would have sworn English is your first language.
