Out of My Mind

Out of My Mind

A Poem by Katarzyna Anna Koziorowska

I am dying on the hope
you have invented.
Poisoned by the modern universe,
I fade out like a scarlet candle
in your lost hands.

Yesterday I sold my last tear,
but I don't regret losing
my firstborn sigh.
You feed me with thoughts
with no meaning,

your words have lost your mind.

You cheated my best dream again.
I've been waiting for this dream
since your birthday.
Don't come with an armful of freshly picked
stars, instead bring me a few glances
straight into a tangible soul.

I thought we had created
a perfect world.
Where did this scarlet rainbow
come from in an overly heavy sky?
I did not deserve your desires,
I am not worthy of your birth.
