My Own Happiness

My Own Happiness

A Poem by Katarzyna Anna Koziorowska

Your last tear drowned in the dark

depths of my soul.

Your last scream fell silent

as I embraced your whisper to my heart.

I met God yesterday,

He was carrying a huge basket

of forbidden fruits.

Could your suffering also belong to me?

I am waiting for the final solution

to this mystery, which is bitter,

out-of-date loneliness.

Man again lost control of the dreams

that became reality for the insane.

The last thought broke in my mind

and I poisoned myself with

my own happiness.

The night, provoked into a fight,

still pretends to be soundly sleeping.
