A Faded Rainbow

A Faded Rainbow

A Poem by Katarzyna Anna Koziorowska

The night took offense at me,
packed its most important stars
and was gone with
the goodbye morning.

Time has imprisoned me
in its golden cage, but eternity
still looks forward to me.
I would lie if I promised that the light
would win this unequal battle
with humanity.

I am constantly waiting for the fear
that the last heaven
has thrown out the window.
God has sat down on the windowsill,
watching the last man die.

I wait for the sun
to obediently turn its face away.
Why do you still see the heart
of loneliness in the mirror?

Why is it worth to color
a faded rainbow?
