The First Summer Snow

The First Summer Snow

A Poem by Katarzyna Anna Koziorowska

The black flame of faith
dances within me.
Life is forbidden
on this overpopulated island.

I didn't learn anything
in those thirty years
of my childhood.
The antipodes that could be
our hearts are not our love.

I'm begging solitude
for a little shade,
but the sun is shining greedily today.
My dreams of private compassion
are insatiable.
Life is still looking at you
from the mirror.

The first summer snow is falling
in my heart.
I invited my favorite Death for coffee
yesterday, but she came back too late
as usual.

I believe that
somewhere out there,
above the clouds, God is sobbing
black, cold tears.
The eternity in which I woke up
cannot go on forever.

A very deep piece of writing Katarzyna, I particularly liked your lines “ I believe that
somewhere out there,
above the clouds, God is sobbing
black, cold tears.”
