Sleepy

Sleepy

A Poem by Katarzyna Anna Koziorowska

Don't thank your dreams
until your childhood is over.
Do not trust dreams of freedom,
of love that will never be
your fault.

Come close, hug my words,
to nameless fantasies.
Frozen tears on your cheeks
are proof of your strength,
your hope.
Let us not wake the night,
let it rest before the morning returns.

Hide in your heart
your last breath, your last gulp
of air that will give you pain
that will flow with your blood.
I longed to learn
your language, but I am too gullible,
too sleepy.
