Against the Tide

Against the Tide

A Poem by Katarzyna Anna Koziorowska

I stand on this edge

of an indifferent lie,

looking for silence that would make

me scream.

Dreams, fed by hunger, continue

to fight for a reason to sleep,

for the lost heaven.

I didn't want to talk to your delusions,

they feel like an intrusive fight

with asexual blemishes

on your forehead again.

My red-eyed faith

grows in me,

and in spite of humanity,

the Earth will become

a paradise.

My prayerful wings cannot lift me.

Mornings are the tastiest

and are worth waiting for

from time to time.

You have saved me from snares

of passion,

from the depths of light

that commands me to go against

the tide.
