The Green Tears

The Green Tears

A Poem by Katarzyna Anna Koziorowska

Destroyed images, dressed in
our words, collide with green tears
of the innocent.
Wounded names, locked in
cold hands, do not concern
our consciences,
they do not promise a better past.

Light the wind in our mouths, sing
a ballad without words.
Do not run away from loneliness,
love has become a complaint
without unnecessary smile.

I do not want to die without fear
that you will inherit from me
a scarlet sky, a boundless soul.
I dance against the screams, hide my anxiety
from the greedy touch of seconds.

Is what we call pain your reflection
in my mirror? Is a breath of fear here
to bring a stolen lie, duplicitous truth?
