Choking

Choking

A Poem by M.a. Benjamin

 Choking on my misery

One breath at a time

The heart of a nagging vein pulsates

Like a dying ember in a pile of ash

A bitter taste of self-hate races up

Right to the tongue’s tip and ready to jump

There’s no place left for me

I can’t be seen in mortal mirrors

And I’d rather burn alive

No howling of agony

Silent acceptance of mine

And whatever I deserve in the aftermath

Bring unto me

A shell of nothing that will ever be

Great piece-- very good imagery and use of emotion. Raw and hard hitting. Nice job.
Only thing- I think you meant "breath" in the second line.

I don't like this. I LOVE this!!! I can feel the pain, the misery. In fact, I can feel it all, because you just described me right now. Excellent job.
