The walk away

The walk away

A Poem by M.a. Benjamin

“I’ve never felt this bad” you sob

yet your eyes tell a different tale

A notion that trust lost all value

As I turn my back from that banshee wail

The lock is turned

a mind was made

a bag is packed

my feelings fade

all that's left is the lonely walk

and the cadaver of guilt

that wishes I stayed

Oh nice and deep. A dark side, a sad side. Makes me want to read it again. I am really enjoying your work.

The ending was not anticipated, I loved the feeling like regret you left with the reader. The way your ordered this chaotic scene came ironically smoothly out onto the page. I liked that contrast particularly. I can nearly picture the whole thing, you did an excellent job with descriptors.. triggers.. without having to make it too long. I'm still not quite sure how you did that with so few words, most likely an expansive knowledge of the English language and the way the brain references each word. I'm betting you don't even think about it, it just comes naturally to you. You're truly talented sir, thank you for sharing this with the community: it was lyrical magick.

Wow.
Progress can be deceiving, especially when it leaves behind such heaviness.
This piece is thoughtfully expressed. I enjoyed it.
