Rain rain

Rain rain

A Poem by poddar kushal

Rain rain

Mother told her to save them for rainy days.

The rain drops on the future this noon.

This noon of annihilated sun.

And, this day she breaks her piggy bank.

Opened, a note from a distant land

With roaming nomads of memory

Flies out. It flies to and fro, settles

On the dust over a black book case.

A currency it is, to be cashed

In a different plain, in a world

With strange lights and figures of the past.

A sepia lane and lame cat crossing…

A sparrow touched by death

A motherly hand placed on her head.

Mother told her to save them for rainy days

not seeing that this piggy bank of hers actually holds cash per se, as much as it holds treasures of the heart. to be saved for the rainiest of days when the heart is shedding a million diamond tears and we need a comforting touch. i like this one. excellent.

This poem has wonderful imagery, the foreign currency is a conductor of past times and memories and being cashed in a future time and different place, is a wonderful metaphor for what her mother was preparing her for....I had a grandmother who did exactly that, I wish my mother had, money burns holes in my pockets, I live in the now and stuff the future! tut tutting at myself...LLB, smiling at you, friend

Intriguing... I am not sure if I follow it but I find the greatest poems leave me wondering....
It does give the sense of sadness or perhaps death adefinite ending of sorts...
I enjoy the way you formulate your thoughts poetically..

i like the Rain...
in Arabic Poetry... Rain might symbolize so many aspects of any single emotion...
its a bit weird for me to notice such focus on a natural event and symbolizing it to make a different new perspective!
the mystery is nice... but the feeling... a bit painful... is it not?

anyway... i enjoyed this poem!
keep it up!

Profoundly poetic. Love the imagery you invoke with this. My mother was a shop-a-holic so I guess this wouldn't apply to me. :) Good write.
