A Quiet Night

A Quiet Night

A Poem by LJ

This poem started as an "angry" poem, but a friend saw something worthwhile. (:

Sometimes, on a quiet night

due in part to my perversity

and of course my common nature -

my mind wanders before I dream

and I wonder on what should be

if my twin should die before me

she will become known to me

reaching me over any number

of miles straight into my mind

my senses knowing her actions

her death finding telling me

stronger than the telepathy

of twins shared when we were kids

stronger than the restlessness

before an unexpected letter

stronger than the telephone

answered before it rings

“pay attention, LJ, this is important”

I hear it in my head

and stumble asunder

fall down speechless

unreachable closeness

why does she do this?

waste her dying effort

for me and as soon as

I think it " I hear her

saying it loud so she

knows I will hear she

loves me

Author's Note

How do you feel after reading it?
Do you think it's kind enough when it reaches the end?
Truthfully, I cried over this one.

Your wonders and memories are very clear and perfectly valid; I don't know if this is wishful, dreaming or real, but you certainly present a picture of someone very dear to you and you to her; that you wish she was your twin (or maybe is); maybe you're comparing the relationship of twins to your love (whomever) who is not a t.win, but the love is strong and hopefully lasting...our minds wander endlessly...at least mine does....
Best, B
