Woven Webs

Woven Webs

A Poem by L.M.Warde

Like shadows they haunt me
Lurking in every corner
Like specters they're watching
Looking for the moment to strike

I feel their chillling, empty gaze
In each room, down each alleyway
I know I am close to the end of my days
Insidious things are they

Every inch of my skin has been crawling
Even when I think that I'm safe
Enmeshed by the webs I'd been spinning
Escaping the facts with the fake

Soon I'll feel that chilling embrace
Still stalking, they patiently wait
Soon they will crash in upon me
Swallowed by forged faces I've made

Author's Note

L.M.Warde
A rather cryptic piece. I wanted to write something that could be read a couple different ways, and to hide something in the words that is both obvious and hidden. It isn't my typical style but I enjoyed making this very much. Let me know what you think!

I love it!!! It's as if your trying to escape your own lies..or tales you've spun..while slowing they're catching up to you...at least this is what I took from this. I love the rhythmic tone to this especially the fourth stanza and your imagery is amazing! Great job, I really enjoyed this:)
