Flag Pie - Red, White And Blue Love Filled Pie

                                       

                        

Let’s just say…just for the heck of it-

that someone was to bake a flag pie

A flag pie you say! What in the world is a flag pie?

Well… It doesn’t sound real appetizing you say

Sounds a bit dry and a tad E Pluribus Unum

Kinda’ like a George Washington story…

 

“About a cherry pie for you and me

When he chopped down a cherry tree

Giving us the red, white and blue

Good ole’ George born in February, too”

 

 

Now I just love pie, especially cream pies. The "Pie Lady"

 at the Farmer's Market in Historic Florence, Nebraska

Well,   she sells beautiful pies…

She stands under her white tent on a hot Sunday  afternoon

with a big, beautiful smile on her face and her

“Perfect as a Picture” pies

all set out on a crisp, white tablecloth,

stuffed with berries and fruits

 topped off with her nice, crispy, lightly browned crusts

but most of all -

they are filled with her LOVE!

 

Yes, you can just tell by lookin’ at um’ ...

that they're filled with hugs…

a pinch of kindness, a whole lot of kisses n’ a bunch of gooey stuff like that!

But someday, I’m just gonna’ ask her

if she knows what a flag pie is

Ya’ know what - I’ll just bet she does!  I think she’d make it something like this…

 

“Contented grown blueberries, bananas and raspberries…

Add love hatched eggs, happy cow churned butter

Perhaps she may even add some cheerful nuts

Mix them together, top with enchanted whip cream

Bake it all into a happy, crisp, brown crust

Fill to the brim with love, hugs

 and a pinch of joyful sugar too

Just bursting with upbeat flavor - served cold or hot

Cuz’ eating love- filled pie …well it’s a definite must”
