The Awakening Rose of Thunder

The Awakening Rose of Thunder

A Story by anne p. murray- LadeeAnne

Fractured fragments of terracotta stones- tandem pieces of broken seashells
and gritty sand from scattered beaches endured their substance as ragged patches
for her tattered, broken heart. Their mortar damp from tears, that fell like foggy, misty rain
on the delicate, shattered glass of her soul.

Amethyst, turquoise skis filled the air with the earthy smell of oncoming storms.

Every fiber unraveled and unnerved her senses as if she was on fire- leaving her skin
like that of a peeled orange, revealing the depth and layers of her strangled emotions.
In the dark stillness of the night, she heard the roaring, blood curdling rhythmic drum beats
of rumbling thunder, shooting its devouring bolts of lightning…shaking the whole of all Creation.

She stood in the shadows aching- bewildered. She ran breathlessly, seeking a fortress of safety as the drumbeats followed her every move. The whole Earth was suddenly filled with many echoed songs of past remembered moons.

The wind was furious, as it whipped the ocean in a roar of thunderous waves.
Suddenly the comfort in a landscape of trees stirred her soul. Her spirit began to rise

as a gentle wind teased and kissed her face, sending its gentle tap of mild
whispering breezes across her brow.

Running toward the trees, she felt the ground beneath her feet - reassuring her that

she'd regained her soulful, celestial gravity, as the silence of the night whispered to her heart. She looked up into the sky as it began sending its pure, cleansing, tears of soothing rain.

Suddenly… she was safe in the sanctuary of Earth's choreography. She began her elegant,

graceful, dance - comforted by its soothing, gentle rhythms, safe in the arms of Heaven.

Great story telling. This did justice in the realm of getting the message across. Great message. There's lot of times where a story can have a great message to aim for, and have a lot of under lining things but then no one gets it, and if no one gets it, then the point has failed. But in my opinion this did well to get the message across. You made it clear, which is why I think it's good. Keep up the good work. What was also great was that I could imagine the story as I read it, and that is also a strong point of stories. The ability to have the reader imagine it because after all we're reading not watching it, but it was as if I was there as I read this, and that is great. Good job once again.
