Forming Bridges Of Voice

Forming Bridges Of Voice

A Poem by anne p. murray- LadeeAnne
"

Written to implement courage and strength in all women young and old who seek healthy relationships with men who truly care, and with people who want to share

"

                          We shall be heard

Out of the silence, I heard a voice saying

“You shall be heard, your voice counts”

        I was trembling with excitement!

My mind told me someone was listening

accepting my morsels of reality and wisdom

                     Our feminine intuition

                        is our inheritance

                     Our native legacy,

                     Our secret garden

       Grapevines of many women’s voices

singing the same songs, crying the same tears

           in the battlefields of equality

Systems of selfish, male egos who want  to

                        hush our tones

                Because we cry real tears,

                Because we have real feelings

We are movers, we are shakers

                  We will not be silenced

by those types of men who cannot

                           accept equality

                Those who are threatened

by our feminine strengths and intuitions

We shall not have sawdust in our veins

                      or grit in our throats

Self esteem  shall  be the blood

                    coursing through our hearts

For we have rightfully earned our places

where our voices shall be listened to ….

                      strong and clear

We are not society’s jaded victims

                    or simply observers

              We choose to be alive

              We choose to be heard

         Respected in fairness and honesty

We are givers and receivers of life’s wisdom and love

We are all warriors, not victims

Thriving to be with those who truly love and share

Marching side by side with men

and with those who truly care!

I am but a mere man ... and I found this uplifting so goodness only knows what the female of the species will think of it.
In the latter part of my military career I was a Troop Staff Sergeant (Gunny in U.S. terminology) and among my soldiers I had a few of the fairer sex. They were treated just like their male counterparts by me. At one point for about 18 months my Troop Commander was a woman.

Why mention these things? Not to justify a great poem, but to let readers see that women already have their rightful place out there and only dinosaurs try to make it look different. Now stepping off my soap box ... Great write Anne.

I'm not an extraordinary woman, simply put... I'm just a normal, ordinary one. In my private life I am gingerly cautious with the people I meet, but fearless in the words I write. Not an extrove.. more..
