In War For The Love Of You

In War For The Love Of You

A Poem by anne p. murray- LadeeAnne

Stripped naked... raw to the bone

I long to be covered in blankets of softly, whispered words

Words of delicate tones and honesty breathing in their healing air to a wounded soul in need of rest

Remembered pangs of pain fall like raindrops upon my breast so frozen in crimson despair

My soul, mute to the songs of love...I sliced off a piece of my heart, gave it to you for safe keeping

I found a shimmering, shattered piece of it lying cold upon your floor

All hope depleted, vanished from sight...holding my paintbrush in my hand, I wonder what color should I paint this kind of love now?

A fragment of my heart chokes my breath as my tears say “Let go, Let go”!

They stain my cheeks as they slide down into my soul leaving behind nothing ...but their salty trace like a stain on my life as you cruelly squeeze the drops from my sun leaving them lying yellow and cold upon my pillow
