I Do

I Do

A Poem by Bree Williams

What won't I give you?

Platter and chalice, bounty and skill. The fruits of my labors, scrubbed clean.

What won't I give you?

My thighs flashing white in the dark. Your teeth, my pulse, quick quick quick.

What won't I give you?

The tallest peaks of my body sliding into the sea. The days, the years, the dimming of my vision.

What won't I give you?

A woman armored with hurricane eyes and stories I don't know. Sovereign, invulnerable. The me without you.

What won't I give you?

What can I keep?
