The Secret

Today I hid a secret

But it's not that hard to find

It's not like all the others

For it's the special kind

It's not what someone told me

Nothing someone shared

I wanted to tell you long ago

But I was just too scared

I hid it in a special place

But you were not aware

A place I've hidden other things

And you were even there

Though you've never seen it

I've hidden you there for years

I wanted to show you a thousand times

But was blinded by my fears

I saw where you got married

My secret's safe for now

I'll try to forget my secret

But I really don't know how

Some secrets eat at us forever. I like the story in the poem. Funny how we look back and wished we said and done more. A sad ending to a excellent poem of regret.
