Mama Where Did You Go?

Mama Where Did You Go?

A Poem by Whiskurz

Mama, where did you go?
I can't see you anymore
What did I do to make you mad?
Why did you leave me for?
Mama, where did you go?
I can't hear your precious voice
Didn't you love me enough to stay?
Or did you have no choice?
Mama, where did you go?
I need you to hold my hand
Who will teach me how to walk,
Or steady me when I stand?
Mama, where did you go?
Did I do something wrong?
Please just give me one more chance
Come back where you belong
Mama, where did you go?
For your face I haven't seen
Tell me mama, I don't understand
What does abortion mean?

You entered this in my "Deep" contest and after I read it, I just felt the need to review it, so I searched it (went through quite a few pages) and finally found it.
I was reading along, kind of bored at first like, yeah, yeah, her mom died, big whoop, I've read a lot of poems like that and then... BAM. "What does abortion mean?" My heart literally stopped, I'm not kidding. I kind of froze for a minute. This poem has all the means to be average, all the means to just be boring, and then you get to the last stanza and you practically want to give you a standing ovation.
I'm not against abortion, I'm not for it either, I think it's a choice, and it's sad, but the baby's life could have ended up being worse than death with a 15 year old mom who's parents have shunned her or something. Sometimes I think it's the better choice.
But this. I've read maybe two other poems from the baby's point of view about abortion, and none really stuck with me, I can't remember them, but this I think will ring in my ears a lot. This is so amazing, I'm just babbling here, KEEP WRITING! You're good.
I'm also going to friend you, if that's okay.

Wow. Just wow. I cannot believe what I just read. I was not expecting that ending. All I have to say is that this was an amazing topic and a great way to present it. You really shocked me witht his poem. I like how you have a variety of different styles. Great job. I loved it. This made it past the first cut in the contest.

Oh... I didn't see that ending coming :(. Really forces an, "oh god..." feeling. I haven't seen any pieces of writing with this topic, but good work.
