Today

I find it strange

That all around the world

Everyone is experiencing today 
In a completely different way:
Someone is falling in love for the first time 
While somebody else's heart is breaking,
Someone is crying themselves to sleep at night
While somebody else is having the time of their lives.
Someone is just being born 
And someone else 
Is taking their last breath 
But what I think is wonderful
Is that we all have the same feelings,
We all go through the same things.
So if you're feeling lonely tonight,
Like you're the only man on the moon
If you're thinking that there's no way 
Anyone else understands what you're going through 
Trust me, they do.
I want you to know 
That you are never alone 
No matter how many times
If feels like you are,
And I want you to remember
That you will not feel this way forever.
Millions of people 
Have survived everything you have been through 
So take that as proof 
That no matter what 
Gets thrown your way 
You will always make it through today.

Today is a day I needed to hear this. Thank you for the uplifting words.

Also, I feel I should mention I am finally getting around read requests I've had stuck in my inbox for years. I spent a lot of time away from this site, but am trying to bring myself back. I remember, years ago, you commented on one of my poems stating you felt we have similar writing styles and I could not agree more. I am falling more and more captive to your writing with each poem I read. Many times, after I finish a poem of yours, I am left thinking, "yes - this is how I feel! This is how I think!" Finally, there is another who thinks like me. Thank you.

I especially liked the first few lines of the poem, in which the poet ponders how everyone in this world is experiencing the say day, but a billion people experience it in a billion different ways. How fascinating that we're all feeling something what others have felt before, or will feel in the future. This only goes to prove that we, as humans, are all different souls and different bodies but our hearts beat as one. Very thoughtful.

I also love the last line. "You will always make it through today." How optimistic and inspirational. A simple message, but one we need to be reminded of from time to time. Keep writing. x

^^ I really liked reading this, very encouraging. Everyone does experience each day a little differently but we have all experienced the same types of feelings so we can relate to others. I did notice a typo that you might want to fix, "If feels like you are" I think you meant to say "It feels like you are." Other than that I think it is wonderful! Thank you for sharing!
