I'm Not Invisible

I'm Not Invisible

A Poem by Laurel Ducky
"

this applies to two people in my life. though it seems so at first, this is not a romantic poem.

"

why is it that

when the world can see my pain,

you're the only one blind?

and when i go to you for comfort,

you're so absently kind?

why is it that

the one who i need most today

can't come to console me?

and the one to whom i show my pain

simply refuses to see?

why is it that

you are so able to slice me

without as much as a sound?

and yet you make me feel safe

which is why I need you around

why is it that

i know that you would see me here

vulnerable and small

If you'd look, you'd see a change in me

I used to stand so tall...
