Goosebumps in the Sun

Goosebumps in the Sun

A Poem by Daniel Fletcher
"

It's sometimes pretty dicey knowing when winter's over....

"

A spring-day paradise rolls by,

Sky gleams on grass of green, not dun,

And yet I shake and wonder why

Gusts give me goosebumps in this sun.

Black-dotted birds dip down to earth

Across the velvet-felted lawn

This scene serene shows nature's mirth --

By chance, it seems, my warmth is gone.

Why does this wind exist for me?

I gambled, thinking winter’s done.

I bet the breeze, short-sleeved, and lost --

And I have goosebumps in the sun.
