A unique format made this fun to read.....the stanzas in red, to me, are like a narrator speaking his piece, and then his voice fades away in time for the vignettes of dialogue.
I can easily see this acted out on a stage with spot lighting alternating between Jane & John Doe and the narrator, who is off to the side.
A wonderfully insightful write about the cycles of love and human relationships.
Excellent poem better structure. After reading this I really appreciate the comment on mine. This reminds me of one of my other works. I will have to find it and put it on here for you to check out. I really want to stress I enjoy the structure. The words felt carefully chosen. A great read....reading it again real quick, yes, I was right. Excellent piece.
Wow, I loved it. The different parts, special structure, that was enjoyable to read.
The questions make you think. You seem to get down to the raw truth of love, which isn't looks, or first outward expressions, but what you know about who people are.
I think the story of Jane and John throughout the whole thing gives it a story line as well, which makes it more amazing. Thank you for posting this.
I feel as if I have been taken through a journey. Great structure, the poem changes like the seasons and the reader is taken along for the ride. Then again, I also see the cycle of life as well. From birth, when everything is new, fresh, interesting and exciting. Then along the way we witness deterioration until the end when this love dies leaving the reader to contemplate your question "Does True Love 'Ever Die'...?" How do we determine true love? Is there one rigid pattern or is it varied as we are? Your poem is wonderful and very thought provoking! I can say so many things about it, yet only hardly scrapping the surface
Does true love ever die? Does true love even exist? We dive into relationship more in love with the way the relationship makes us feel. As time passes the illusion of love fades into a sad and desperate complacency which reveals just how alone and pathetic we really are. This is written well and with great creativity. I love the style that you chose.
