Letting go

Letting go

A Poem by Ina Waltz

I grew up and noticed that I was

like those apples on a tree

grasping so closely to the branches
in the middle of winter,

afraid to let go and be on their own.

Also, I noticed how those apples
slowly rotted away with the snow

becoming wrinkly, ugly and old

until no one wanted them anymore.

Before it's too late for me to fall,

I decided to let go.
