The Cat Is Back

The Cat Is Back

A Poem by Leonard Birch
"

Will the Cat get what he wants? Let's find out.

"

The Cat is back

My cat was lying on the dining room floor,
Next to a bird, that began to call.
He slid, then climbed the bird cage stand,
and copped a beauty from my right hand.

“Ouch”, he hissed and went back for more;
He ended up looking at the bathroom door.
“I’ll get that bird”, he yelled and cried.
“You can’t stop me, I’m dynamite”.

“Stick to mice”, I asked him nicely,
“A mouse is common and a far less pricey”.
He went outside and spotted a cricket;
He pounced and met up with a picket.

Then he spotted a slippery snake,
Wrapped around a ten foot stake.
“I think I had better call it a day”,
He said and cuddled up in the hay.

“Tomorrow, I’ll take on Charlie the Dog,
and have a go at the neighbour’s frog,
until then, I’ll count the flies
and wait for something to catch my eye”.

“Surprise”!
