Protect Our Children

Protect Our Children

A Poem by Leonard Birch
"

Our children are our future. Protect them from evil.

"

Protect Our Children

Protect our children,
from any pain.
They need to be nurtured,
and saved from blame.
Keep them protected,
save them from evil.
  Teach them,
guide them,
and Treat them as equal.

God forbid,
we turn our backs.
Abuse can happen,
as fast as that.
Focus on changes,
in their behaviour.
You are their eyes,
you are,
their saviour.

Find some time,
to talk to your child.
Never get loud,
never get wild.
We only have one shot,
at making it right.
Our children should feel,
happy,
and bright.

I feel this way also. It's a shame how many kids their are walking around clueless about things they should have been taught or children who act out so they can get attention of any kind. They should be treated right and with dignity. They didn't ask to be here.

Thank you my dear friend
this is so full of common sense...we are responsible for our children...to lead them in the right direction...once they are grown they will do as they will...

like crosby, stills, nash and young sang.."teach your children well---give them a code that they can live by"

This seems more of a speech... a cry out to parents and guardians of the next generation to look forward and teach them the path of righteousness... in the age where they grow up with single parents or parents not even adults themselves is a harsh reality... Yet... not one to be abandon... with the ethics of rearing them to be the next to uphold generation after another...

So true! A great poem for parents who struggle to fulfill the duties associated with raising children.
Again, your rhymes are splendid. It's a joy to read your work just to see what words you rhyme together.
I love your work, especially this poem. Great job!

Leonard, This is a beautifully written poem and has a wonderful message. It's sad to think that some kids don't have anyone looking out for them. It's a much scarier world today than the world I grew up in.
Thank you for sharing this!
