Good aye Mate

Good aye Mate

A Poem by Leonard Birch
"

A poem with a laugh. I wrote this to have a bit of fun. Hope you like it.

"

Good aye Mate

Howdy cobber,
good aye mate.
Dismal weather,
nah it’s great.
Got five dollars,
nah, got a buck.
Need a cigarette,
nah, outta luck.

How’s your family,
doin’ great.
How’s the wife,
she’s still irate.
Taking her shopping,
ain’t got time.
The shops are closed,
it’s half past nine.

What’s with Johnny,
He’s working loads.
Got a mortgage,
I suppose.
Good aye Partner,
hello mate.
Going home,
it’s getting late.

Truly fantastic piece of work here, the humor, the accent, the feeling of two mates, who see eachother on the street in the mundane life, and speak to eachother, It brings a nostalgic feeling with it, almost how they spoke in times of Shakespeare, but more Fun, and witty you bring this, so good...

I'm already a fan, can't wait to read more of you!

My pleasure always, and I will, thank you Leo.
:) This is a lot of fun! I like the conversational back and forth here. Wonder why the wife is irate... ;) Great piece, Leo!
