[Painted Fumbled Kissed Bitten Admired Words]

A Poem by Lerato

Words are not enough

when you think about it words don't say much

yet words are what be are defined with.

How many people actually think words?

Yet I get a feeling that no matter what I say

Sometimes are not enough to accurately express

my thoughts, feelings and visions

I think now I can art in the form of painting

A picture is worth a thousand words

A picture tells more than words could

Yet we'd rather speak

It may be a sense of definity we derive from it

The feeling that we are understood

Does that not override our accurate expression

as it may be?

If you ask me at times: How are you? I respond -

I don't know

Could that really be the accurate answer?

Could it be that maybe I don't know in words?

This takes me back to a discussion I was involved in

during the year

Am I conforming to the idea that society expects me

to speak Words?

That awkward moment someone asks a question and

you don't respond in words, in fact you remain silent and

then they ask: What is wrong with you? Are you okay?

Are we maybe complacent in using words?

Yet my build up of events, experiences and associations

of words, they don't mean to me what they do to you.

How can it be

that what I say to you

is what you hear always if all we use

are Words?

There are many ways to speak but I think all you need to hear is

- A silent ear

- Wondering eye (don't get the wondering confused)

- Gentle touch

- A patient tongue

- A curious nose

AND WILLINGNESS TO LET SPEAK

SO WHAT IS YOUR SENSE OF HEARING?
