Who's That Girl

Who's That Girl

A Poem by Lesley Irma

Who is that girl I see?

she doesn’t look like me

those lines around her eyes,

and are those wrinkles on her forehead

I think her skin is a little dull

in fact, she needs an over-hull!

Who is that girl I see?

I think she used to be " me

I think she used to be

full of life and young

I think maybe

she used be so much fun

but this girl staring back at me

looks like she is trying to still believe

in a little bit of magic

in her world she finds somewhat tragic

Who is that girl looking back at me

perhaps she is me

just the way I’ve grown to be

Great imagery of the person inside, looking further beyond the reflection seen in the mirror to a world shared with tragedy and maturity.

That is why I have all my mirrors turned inward...so that they only refrectmy soul...and it's been old for a very long time:)
