Private Rain

Private Rain

A Poem by Lesley Wood
"

Winding miles bar us from each other's arms...

"

Winding miles

Bar us

From each other’s arms.

The highways and interstates

Twist into

Complicated knots

Like the one

In my throat.

 In my mind’s eye,

Our faces don’t meet

In the night sky

 And yours looked so far

And gray from where

I lay, the colors

 Glimmer and fade

Pains in my heart

Leak out

As in Private Rain.

I am more and more amazed every time I read you're writing, you are an absolutely superb poet, and your style is so unique from any other I have ever seen, yet another great piece.

Oh, how I love the rain. Strange, I know, but there is something about the mere mention of it in a poem....almost comforting.

Your analogy to time and distance, "into complicated knots" gave this poem a voice. A very intense one. Quite an enjoyable read, Les!
