A Poem by Leslie Philibert
"

a look at a picture that cannot be seen

"
So Jesus came to church as a ghost, and claimed
to have said goodbye without meaning it.
This is his story - the chalice and the frame
that made him known, cunning dust, half songs and
the Hellenic rows in fields without perspective.
This is his house ; a roof with an unknown end.
an upturned ship, a lost atrium with sharp air.

But he cannot trust himself not to touch, and muses,
look, you are heedless ; buried in beads.

I don't think this has anything to do with the conventional Christian concepts of "knowing him," rather, I think it is how the entirity of a belief system is fragile and how it can become before the simplicity of reason.
Apart from the theme, however controversial it may seem, your word selection is superb and the structure is excellent. Beyond that, the profound nature of the writing sets it apart in a class of its own.

As a Christian bychoice and a Jew by birth..I do not toally understand your meaning in this..If you knew Him as I do..perhaps you would think differently..Valentine

' But he cannot trust himself not to touch, and muses, ~ look, you are heedless ; buried in beads.'. Too busy in business than to feel the truth?

What a wonderfully wonderful piece of writing! It's gently powerful, it rings out in whispers.. 'Come see what can't be seen and be prepared dumbfounded. He comes to settle on doubts, to re-arrange what has been disturbed .. needs to tidy, make good and then .. prompt you to look up and see. Perhaps?

I see this as a word painting, perhaps an alterpiece (deliberate mispelling). Rich, complex and quite beautiful.

twelve folks came and saw the wonder that you've written, and walked away feeling unworthy to say anything in response

i could read these words twenty-eleven times or more and find something new every single time
