James Joyce

James Joyce

A Poem by Leslie Philibert
"

one of the best...

"
O tell me about a snoddy gumboot of a soul ;
black as Guiness - a drinker of dirty water ;
a wordsmith, the conjurer of fumbler;
bearer of a laugh and pork sausages ;
a stout fellow with the learning as big
as the Cork and Kerry Mountains -
you crazy bloody genius you.

I never read any of James Joyce, but I really like what this poem says about him.

Speaking ill of a man in a condescending manner; I do say, brilliant and poignant with both admiration and a certain lick of hatred. Well done!
