Summer Rain

Summer Rain

A Poem by Leslie Philibert
"

a sudden rain

"
Summer before the air closes
                down with heat
                locked in a plastic suitcase
smelling of earth
               the sky ready to darken
               and break,apple-split
the crash of an unhinged window
               leaves in flight,
               the light lung grey
as ants in water and panic
              heaven full of bolts and screws;
              now aware of loss.

Great imagery! This takes me back to summer. I feel the heat, the sudden shift, then the forceful rain. Well done.

this poem tells a stark image of man or maybe a man and his comrads on his way to a beautiful summer get away , they pack all their favourite beers and food etc in a cooler .and a sudden down pour of rain starts which ruins there day at the beach its not a normal down pour it carries thunder and lightning within its forte , the people in the water briskly and hysterically make haste out the water . to find a safe spout as the rains ruins a great outing . great poem i got so much out of it lovely write .

I enjoyed this poem.
I could feel the flash of tragedy and the energy was charged in every stanza.
Simple, direct, and unusual. Still, it read as a familiar sight and sound with all the suddenness and severity of real life.

A poem that lingers. Leaves a sense of stasis. Whimsical in a way, the thought of a rain shower stealing my sun. Wish you would send read requests Leslie as I see I have missed many wonderful pieces!
