A Savage God

A Savage God

A Poem by Leslie Philibert
"

dedicated to two American journalists

"
words can never
be destroyed
your voices will remain
your pictures eternal
we of good faith
will be one and
those who need
a savage God
will be alone
at the end.

Is it God that is savage or the devil. Heaven is waiting when we believe. Valentine

So true. It is a savage god that advocates this sort of barbaric behavior.
And what does it say about people who follow it?.......
Nicely done.

I agree with what you say here. Very well done. I, too, think this is a grand and important poem,
and I to think it comes straight from the heart.

Fantastic tribute poem tho those who lost their lives just doing their jobs.

But how can you say this is not much of a poem? A great piece as always.:)

A fantastic tribute poem to two who lost their lives doing nothing wrong.
It would take belief in savage god to justify such barbaric behavior in this day and age.

I am with you on this....

we of good faith
will be one

You did right by penning your thoughts. I have been extremely traumatized for the past few days, by this brutality...your words have strengthened me and given me hope...I am feeling much better after reading this tribute to the two lost lives. Thank you so much.

A worthy and excellent tribute. The manner of their murders was shocking enough, but the fact that these were the last of a dying breed was tragic. The poignancy of your write, its simple (yet not simplistic) development of the theme and its sad warning were perfect in every respect.
