Three Pictures In Prose

Three Pictures In Prose

A Story by Leslie Philibert
"

my first attempt to write prose

"
A girl with red hair sits in a cafe. She writes a letter, then pauses to tap her pen against a coffee glass. She sighs and then pushes her hair away from her forehead. She glances over the tables and by chance our eyes meet.I imagine she is looking for help.

The next day. She is reading Heidegger and looks very alone. All this might be conceived coincidence. The case smells of damp coats and steam. I move my chair slightly to look at her, and she pretends not to notice.

A week later. She is no longer here but her removed presence warms the near pathological sterility of the Innenraum.Outside I see commuters sheeping towards the station, and consider life getting lost in sleet.

I hope to see her again, but she is gone.

Don't see many prose often. This one's not bad. I could totally visualize this in my head. I don't know very many prose but I like this one so far...
