Katharina

Katharina

A Poem by Leslie Philibert
"

On Boxing Day, 2011 a family was walking on a beach in Rugen,an island in North Germany. A landslide hit the whole family.Only Katharina`s mother and sister survived.Katharina was only ten years old.

"
Your first mother has folded you back into her body.
The wind banging the shore like a wet tent,
ropes ready to fly, canvas heavy.
Rain and seawater one.A green sea, broken.
A slice of disbelief tipping, chalk and wet trees.
Seelenlandschaft.
Do not look into the eyes of the morning, you might provoke.
Outstretched hands would be a sort of salvation,
but there is little more than the last falling and an ending.
You will now be rested.

A slice of disbelief...that poor child , and the poor mother left to grieve for that child. Valentine

I've been reading all your writing over again and this one stands out as one burning into memory.. the artistic imageries.. the crushing tragedy seen through childlike eyes.. astoundingly moving tribute, the loss is like a stone carving against my heart..

OK, chills here. Touching, tragic overtone, reuniting with her first mother is heartfelt genious undertone. Nice work Leslie. One of your best. One of the best amongst all I've read here.
