The Queen`s Hat

The Queen`s Hat

A Poem by Leslie Philibert
"

dedicated to the Queen who has been there for me for 60 years.

"
Full of fruit, flowers and berries
Bits of birds and plastic cherries
Full of hues in horrid shades
There is no Brit who`s not amazed

Orange, light blue, above all green
And all strange shapes never fore been seen
Bits hang off, or even down
She might have nicked it from a clown

Your headwear gives my eyes an ache
But from my Queen I won`t forsake
The critics words won`t make us dizzy
We all shout out `We love you Lizzie!

Wonderfully entertaining little ditty, Leslie.
Congratulations to Queen Elizabeth for sixty years of royal service! Her subjects are quite loyal and appear to genuinely love her.
I'm certain all will appreciate this sweet, lighthearted tribute.

. ha ha ! ... "Your headwear gives my eyes an ache" is my favourite line of this merry poem ... that kind of headwear astonishes me ... in india, there are many royal families ... and one gets to see similar things in photographs and on tv ... :) ...

a touch of the iconic and light hearted humour, this has a tone of celebration and cheekiness that no one could resist. a most surprising and marvelous piece!

Nicely done. I bet this is seen as unique no matter how many poems for the jubilee are written. A nice twist.
