The wind and the anchor

The wind and the anchor

A Poem by Lexi
"

Just something I threw together real quick

"
You will never really know me
For I am a stranger.
I will always be the first one there,
But I don't like you.
I am the wind beneath your wings
Coaxing you to fly.
I am the anchor on your ankle
Trying to help you die.
I am the monster under your bed
Scaring you with my strings.
I am the one who whispers all your faults
Making you see yourself all tangled.
I will hold your hair while you are throwing up
All the while reminding you to get out all the calories.
You can wear anything you want around me
But I will always think you look atrocious.
I am the one who's seen you cry,
And judges your laughs.
I am the one who will stab you in the back
Because I know all your secrets.
I
Am
You

Wow. Awesome ending, I did not see it coming. (I thought it would be some person being a "friend," but really not actually being one.) Talking to the reader is an interesting breaking of the fourth(fifth?) wall and a kind of challenge and incrimination of the reader, as though we are the enemy, as though anyone reading or anyone at all is this sinister being. VERY interesting.

This is interesting ! Your words captivated me from the start ...
Fearing the others when the one thing that we must fear are our deep darkened selves.
