Too Simple

Too Simple

A Poem by Alexa Tarvid
"

A fear I have stumbled upon as I continue to study the great authors of the world.

"

I am so tired of this,

My words seem so simple,

I cannot shake this childish speech,

I wish to write a masterpiece,

I wish to write something worth reading,

Why can I not shake this!

This compression of the hearts vocabulary,

Tears of frustration dot the paper

As my hands only produce an unworthy work,

A work not worth reading,

I can not wow a crowd nor impress a commoner,

Too simple,

Too unimpressionable,

The world will catch on to my lack of talent

And I shall be forced to join the rank of the talentless,

To be forgotten,

To be... regular.

Tangled in a monkey suit,

Trapped in a cubicle,

I will suffocate in a breifcase

Or disappear next to a copy machine,

That part of this world would be the death of me,

Is that truly my fate?

To blend in with a failed disgrace,

Will I ever become what I wish to be?

Will I ever shake this naive simplicity?

To be more than a childish wannabe,

More than regular,

But to be... a Writer.

Wow, this sounds really good. Really shows your need to distinguish yourself, to be different, something that many poeple feel the need for. I think that you are more than a childish wannabe, and you are a fine writer, and that is displayed well here. You don't confine yourself in this poem with rhymes or too strict of a stanza structure, but there is a base to it with the five line stanzas, which helps the overall look and feel of the poem. Good job, I look forward to reading more of your works.
